Stupid shite which most definitely happened in big and small cities across the US did not happen in a vacuum. It didn't happen last night. Nor the night before. It happened for a reason that everyone ought to be concerned about regardless of politics or race...the state executing people for minor offenses is a bad idea and not one that should be tolerated in a civilized society. Its a bad idea from a policing perspective...it makes a tough job infinitely harder...if for no other reason than wanting to make certain police are safe and effective everyone ought to be concerned anytime someone is killed by a cop no matter the circumstance...but instead some folks dream of it happening more often. Cops who kill people wind up suffering from emotional issues all too often because they are human beings. From a pure humanitarian perspective it is a bad idea. When it is sensationalized the results are catastrophic...yet many are perfectly fine with it.
