At the same time they’ve proven that at their best, they can line up with any program. At one point they were the only program that would give Alabama a consistent run for their money. They probably handed Alabama their biggest loss in the last 15 seasons.

Hypotheticals can only go so far. Clemson won some very big games when it mattered. Including destroying Ohio State and Oklahoma in the CFP and beating Alabama twice. Would they have same success in SEC ? Probably not. But it doesn’t matter.

Clemson beat Bama in 2016 and 2018.
Auburn beat Bama in 2013, 2017, and 2019. Took them to 4OT in 2021.
I’m failing to see where Clemson performed better against Bama during that stretch.
