Hip Hop is the largest music genre in sells in the US and is infinitely so in the rest of the world. like it or not it is a HUGE market around the world. Different strokes for different folks...

IT's because it is pushed more than the other genres, marketed more. Trash music. Rural Georgia has better music.

Your take on Detroit is just idiotic. The Motown era is one of the great eras in music history.

Detroit would also have a claim to Bob Seger, Madonna, Kid Rock, Jack White, Aaliyah, Wilson Pickett and Eminem…

Otis Redding, James Brown, Ray Charles, Chet Atkins, The Allman Brothers, REM, Widespread Panic, Zac Brown, Jerry Reed, Alan Jackson, Norman Blake, Outkast, Usher, T.I., Ludacris, Lil John, B52’s, Magaladon, Little Richard, Gladys Knight, Ray Stephens, Arrested Development, Gnarles Barkley, TLC, Wycliffe Gordon, Indigo Girls, Ma Rainey, Mary Lou Williams, BlackBerry Smoke, ATL RS, The Black Crows, etc

AND The Atlanta Symphony Orchestra which is one of the 5 preeminent ensembles in North America.

So yeah, Atlanta, and Georgia at large is doing alright on the music scene.

Chet Atkins

He is from TN. Confused why on this list

The actual Allman brothers were born in TN and the band was originally formed in Florida

I wouldn’t live there if you paid me but any list of great music cities has to have Los Angeles (and surrounding cities in SoCal) on it.

Not sure how LA is not on there.

If you are interested in going to live music venues, take a stroll down Beale Street, the city's most iconic music street, which is packed with venues such as B.B. Kings Restaurant & Blues Club, Blues City Face, and Young Avenue Deli.

Young Avenue Deli is not on Beale Street...hence the name "Young AVENUE"

I ain't so sure it has anything at all to do with it being pushed, I suspect it has more to do with demographics and the age of people who actually buy music and concert tickets. The world is pretty chock bock full of 15-49 year olds and they listen to hip hop. I agree, rural Georgia has excellent music and not all of it is country or southern rock...lots of blues and r and b in Georgia that is really good. Heaping pile of country hip hop coming from rural Georgia as well...because young people like it. I don't listen to it very often but some of the older stuff is great...but I am 58 years old, I pay for XM and go to a couple of concerts a year and listen to a lot of local live music...I am not what one would call an important demographic for the recording industry...

Its so far at the top that the rest of the list can't even see it without a telescope. Seriously, for a myriad of reasons Muscle Shoals is the single most important location on the planet for music of all genres...incredible the scope and breadth of music that has been recorded in the Shoals.

Aerosmith is from Boston, not Nashville.

Aerosmith was formed in Boston, but spent most of their time -- including recordings, in Nashville.

That is 100% false.
