The interlocking MSU is easily the best and should be the full time helmet.

State has always had an identity crisis with their helmet script. I wish they'd slap a bully/bulldog logo on and be done with it.
More usage of pirate would be great.

Supposedly the interlocking MSU is making a return this year as part of a throwback uniform. This year marks the 25th anniversary of the 1998 team that won the West wearing that logo.
The new primary uniforms are a step in the right direction. I can objectively say we probably have the worst uniform history in the SEC. Nobody has had more of an identity crisis with how they want things to look than State, well other than Ole Miss and mascots.
Most consider the interlocking logo to be the best State has worn. It was shelved in 2004 when State switched from Nike to Russell (yes, you read that right) and began wearing the Croom era atrocities that looked like they came right off the rack at Wal-Mart.
The M-State logo has been forced down everyone’s throat for 20 years, and I think eventually someone in the athletic department got wise and realized that our fans don’t even like that logo. So it appears that logo is being de-emphasized and the horrible letterhead looking logo that ran across the chest since 2009 is finally gone.
I always thought Nike owned the interlocking "MSU" logo and wouldn't let State use it unless they wore their uniforms?

that was the theory for years, but apparently, its not accurate.

Oh, cool. Well, yeah! They ought to bring it back!

Those are great I really like how a lot of teams are going back to cleaner more retro look across sports. Would like the Jets, Dolphins, and Milwaukee Bucks to do this.

Not a lot you can do with maroon and white so keeping it simple is the way to go.
Interlocking MSU hasn't been worn because Nike technically owns it, I believe.

In fairness, State has worn maroon, white, black, gray, and gold in the past few years. Only two of those are school colors.

does Ole Miss say Mississippi? Both schools are okay with the marketing of Ole Miss & State.
It’s always been Ole Miss and State. Probably because the word Mississippi is a mouthful so shorter and sweeter is better for marketing purposes

Separating fact from fiction:
Nike does not own the interlocking MSU, they simply administered the trademark. That was a message board rumor that became prevalent for years. After Mississippi State dropped Nike and went to Russell for the Croom error, both Midwestern State (Texas) and Montana State used the interlocking MSU, as Nike administered the trademark and let it drop.
Something about how it appears off center on apparel is why it is not liked by the MSU athletic department. The old M-S-J logo did not have this problem, but the 1996-2003 modernization did.
In 1995, Richard Williams saw a Marshall Track and Field logo and had a basketball only logo created - it became the M-State. The early version was so bad that it was skewed on the floor at the Hump, but was "squared up" in 2000. In 2004 it became the primary logo for Mississippi State.
In 2009, Mississippi State went full Adidas (Basketball had been Adidas since 2002). With it, came a new logo set - the new M-State along with Bully humping an M, a cowbell, and what you see now.

I believe the Adidas deal is up next summer. Be curious to see if State sticks with them or tries to make a change.

That long believed myth was put to bed last year. Nike doesn't own it and nobody is stopping us from using it.

I kind of like it because that is what people in Mississippi call it. "State".
When I was a kid in the '60s they would have TV shows and Movies where all the kids in them were going to "State". I was old enough to know there was 50 of them and it bugged me that I had no idea what "State" that "State" was actually located in.
This move will solve the mystery. All those kids from the '60s shows went to Mississippi STATE.

Mississippi state looks like a G5 school with no classic uniform and constant gimmicky uniform changes.
