He's still fundraising, sitting in his fancy box on the 50 yard line. Disassociated, lol.

But but Greg Schiano was so horrible lol you would of been better with Greg then this guy
If Mike hamilton hires Gary Patterson, who thought he had the job, instead of letting Lane Kiffin blow smoke up his arse. Tennessee doesn't have 15 shite years and we are not having this discussion.
Patterson would have stabilized the program and been good for 8-11 wins a year.

No, he isn’t fundraising for the university in an official capacity and has been pulled from all official UT partnerships. And he can afford a box in Neyland/still has friends that want him at games. He’s still famous and loved in some circles but not seen or heard in official circles anymore.

Jeff Long managed to get run out of Pittsburg, fired at Arkansas, fired at Kansas.
He hired John L Smith, Brett Bielema, Les Miles, and Snoop Dog.

No. We were better off with all this. The first part - Schiano got rid of the Haslam lock. The second part - Pruitt's scandal/firing - finally got our BOT to agree on an AD (something they didn't want to do and the only reason Fulmer remained).
And now we have the best AD and an offensive genius at HC. It worked out quite well.

quote:No doubt. Heath Shuler detested Johnny Majors as a coach. I don't know if they ever moved past it or not. Shuler was a definite leader on that team.
That and a player revolt. Johnny was so far out of control at that time that he was pretty well hated on campus. It was no secret he was a mean arse drunk and that was the worst of times for him. I'm glad he got to rehab his image with the public but while everyone blamed Fulmer, Fulmer had one rule for players - no bad mouthing Johnny.
Johnny was arrogant. VERY ARROGANT, even sober.
UT President Joe Johnson shut him down in front of everyone at a meeting. The NCAA had been sniffing around. Johnny did not like the way UT admins had handled it.
Johnny made the statement in the meeting, "the next time this happens, I will handle it myself."
Joe Johnson told him point blank in front of the whole room, "John, the next time this happens. You won't be one of us."

As bad and fricked up as Pruitt was he was light years ahead of the Chomo guy. Not even debatable.

He would have been so much better off if he rode off into the sunset for good in 2008. His tenure as an AD may not have ruined his legacy, but it certainly tarnished it.
To his credit, he helped out both the men's and women's basketball teams by extending Barnes and hiring Kellie Harper. But that's small potatoes compared to the disaster with Pruitt. At the end of the day, fricking up an SEC football program will be what people remember.

Then they'll be helped along by those misremembering. The two ADs prior were worse than Fulmer. The person most responsible for Pruitt were the idiots trying to hire Schiano. Without that and the subsequent fallout we never get to the point where we are using an interim AD to hire from a list of 5 coaches because the first part of the search fell to shite and now options are extremely limited.
That said, it eventually worked out because Pruitt helped purge those responsible.
