That's just last year, though. Stovall turned down round 2 money to sign with us out of high school a few years ago. It's obviously not common, but there is precedent.

Stovall turned down 2nd round money but he didn’t get drafted. Teams have to forfeit the slot value money against their bonus pool if they don’t sign a draft pick in rounds 1-10. So they don’t draft guys unless they are supremely confident in signing them. Stovall’s situation was different since he didn’t get drafted.

Stovall didn't get drafted. Once he didn't get drafted in the first round, his number that he wanted was too high, so he took himself out of the draft.

Sooooo...he didn't turn down anything.
