re: Whatever you do, don't call the UCF Knights "Central Florida". Evidently that's an insult.

I'll be honest, never been aware of any of this with UCF or ULL.

Cant speak for UCF, but that is a HUGE deal for ULL people. They despise being called ULL

Came here to post about the FTU Citronauts. My grandfather started teaching there in the mid-70s when they still went by “FTU.”

I'll never understand why LSU fans get mad over ULL athletics branding UL.

It’s because Louisiana State fans have a massive inferiority complex.

I've definitely heard "the Tigers of Louisiana State"

It used to be common for national broadcast commentators to say Louisiana State when football games were more infrequently broadcast nationally. But as the brand became more recognized nationally, it is now rare to hear LSU referred to as “Louisiana State.”

Why did Alabama-Tuscaloosa make things difficult for UAB in maintaining a football program? Why does UAT oppose Auburn having a law school?

Some in-state rivals refer to ULL as Ooh-La-La.

Do Ole Miss fans get upset if called Mississippi?

If anyone calls us "Mississippi" they immediately earn the reputation that they don't know anything about us and should just remain quiet.

Like calling ULL Louisiana Lafayette instead of just Louisiana

Aggy ATM

Arse to mouth. That usually doesn't go over very well.

So I'm told

The University website is at Olemiss.edu. The front page uses “Ole Miss” in a commencement video
