He's knows that's not true. UCF had 2 back to back undefeated regular seasons and didn't make the playoffs. Why? Because their strength of schedule sucked. Winning the most games is (and should be) a consideration. But it's not the only consideration and he knows this.

Right. Ultimately, Saban only has himself to blame for a top 3 roster not making the top 4 in December. He indulged the continued under performance of Pete Golding for years. That's on him. He has habitually chased off under-performers but DUIy Pete Golding was the apple of his eye for some damn reason.

It culminated in an abortion of a gameplan where Alabama's defenders were poorly prepared for Vols tendencies to take space with option routes off four verts AND a 4th quarter where Brian Kelly got away with just running draws on long yardage situations because Golding subbed into 1 DL personnel too often. Honestly, the LSU game was more unforgivable than the Vols game because LSU was a compromised offense with a mediocre to poor OL.
