False, 83 Auburn got arse pounded by Texas in what was the biggest home non-conference game in its history up to that point:

The AP and UPI agree.

We lost 20-7 in the second game of the season to a team that ended up going undefeated in the regular season.

Yea, that's really getting our arse pounded (we did play like shite and still only lost by 13 points).

You are proving once again that you are one dumbass mother fricker.

Auburn had played the toughest schedule in the nation, including nine bowl teams, eight of which were ranked in the top 20 (five in the top ten), and two teams Auburn faced would compete against each other in the 1983 Florida Citrus Bowl (Tennessee won the game against Maryland 30–23).
