Is there no thread for the TCU/Oral game?

They just had a play where the runner was somewhat pushed off the bag and called out. Reminded me of an LSU game earlier where Tommy White did the exact same thing and they rules the runner out.

That same thing happened with LSU and they also ruled the runner out. Actually Tommy White pushed the runner much harder. Again not intentionally.

I think k everyone is confused. Hopefully the NCAA or coaches give an explanation later.

I think that there's going to be an uptick in baserunners getting "nudged" off a base "unintentionally" if they are going to let fielders get away with it.

Crazy overrule there. I'm not sure of the logic, do they think he went off on his own power to avoid the contact?

He looked like he was clearly pushed off, unintentionally (which apparently is immaterial).

Somewhat doesn't begin to give it credit. 2b rolled completely into him and knocked him off the base. And it was called safe on the field then overturned by review where they could have reviewed the same rule the announcers were going over. Crazy

Why were there 2 runners on third?

Runner on 2nd got in a rundown. Runner stayed on 3rd realizing the baserunner was going to get tagged out before reaching 3rd.

ETA:

...and the batter used the opportunity to grab 2nd after hitting a single (fielder's choice).

So

You just need a big clumsy 1st baseman to fall on guys standing on the bag. Tag them when they step off to keep from breaking their leg.

It's science!

The explanation was that the umpire ruled the runner safe at 3rd because he did not see the tag after he left the base. At that point (and that point only) the umpire has the discretion to rule the runner safe even though the tag was applied because he was pushed off, but he did not make this ruling. Therefore, the review was de facto out since he was off the bag with the tag and the why's and how's didn't matter.

Don't shoot the messenger and sorry if already explained.

pretty good summary. Basically they went letter of last year's law instead of triggering the umpire's discretion at any point.

Also - FILTHY play by Taylor on that last out.
