Everyone already thinks I'm a fake Alabama fan, so I'm not doing myself any favors here, but I'm starting to wonder if BY was completely overrated.

Firstly, why does everyone think he's so incredible?

Stetson Bennett had a much better college career than BY. Hendon Hooker looked better than BY last year. You could even argue that LSU's QB last year outclassed BY in the head-to-head matchup.

Bryce started 2 seasons and came away with 1 conference title, and only 1 playoff appearance. By Alabama standards, that's pretty unimpressive.

People want to blame everyone around Bryce Young. It's the bad coordinators, or it's the bad WRs, or it's the bad OLine, or whatever. It's just a little suspicious that Alabama never had those problems until Bryce Young showed up.

He was a good-not-great pocket passer. Over his 2 years, the only memorable in-pocket throw was the game winner vs. Auburn. He was a great scrambler, and could pick up an easy first down with his legs, or avoid the rush, and throw for 10-15 yards, but standing in the pocket and throwing dimes all over the field? Not so much.

All I'm saying is, why do people just assume that Bryce Young is a generational, insane QB? What is the evidence? Just because he can scramble, and has a decent to good arm?

I think he's going to be pretty mediocre in the NFL.

I could be totally wrong, but I'll take Tua and Mac any day of the week.

Many called him the greatest Alabama QB ever but he never won a title so I’m confused

Check out the NFL draft. Did he have the same protection and weapons as his predecessors?

No.

But he's too short and small to make an impact at the next level.

No, he's just short as hell and weighs about 50 pounds. He's more likely to actually die from a hit than play in a Super Bowl.

No as far as skills at the QB position he’s unbelievable. He didn’t have the weapons at WR that Tua had. That being said it will be interesting to see how he responds to getting knocked tf out because it’s coming. His OL was bad at Bama but evading tacklers in college is far different than evading tacklers in the NFL

Will he be in Omaha?? Then who cares. He's in the NFL, and everyone is trying to close out baseball.

Maybe, I think he got a bump because he played at Alabama. But I still think he was a great college QB.

Just because you don't win a title doesn't take away from a QB being great. IMO QB's are penalized or given too much credit based upon if they did or didn't win a championship. Tua might have 2 if not for 2019 LSU, Young might have several if not for a couple of great UGA teams. Another team just having a better season doesn't take away from how good a individual player is. Another thing to consider. Young's WR's were dogshit last year and most Bama fans won't say it but the OL was suspect, he was often running for his life.

I don't think he will be, but he could and you can't predict something like that there are too many variables.

No way of knowing, I think he is smart enough and will put in the work. The rest is just being in the right spot, team wise, talent around him, and staying healthy.

Tua is a damn good QB who is made out of glass. Mac is a average QB who is a sack of shite human being with the down right dirty stuff he does on the field.

He’s very accurate. I like accurate QB’s over measurables

Let’s just compare BY and SB. Physically they are the same.
Stetson is faster, that’s not even debatable. Stetson is a little taller; doesn’t really matter.

Those who say Bryce has a better arm; are just wrong. Looks at the completion percentages all around and at different levels( Short, Int, Deep). They are the same, Stetson is a little better at the deep ball actually.
When you look at BY Heisman year, and to be honest it wasn’t all worldly , it was just better than the other guys in the running. However he did throw a lot of TDS, the problem is over 50% were completions within 5 yrds of the LOS; a ton of YACs; he wasn’t making reads he was throwing to the primary receiver.

Now, I will say Bryce has a great ability to buy time in the pocket; but he’s not a great scrambler. Those are different. That’s where I see the problem in the NFL. What he did so well, by being just quick enough against most college DLs; he will not have that time against pros. When he can buy time and get WR busts he us extremely accurate. However, when he throws from from a muddied pocket with DL in his face or at his feet , he puts the ball in danger.

I hope not. My son's a huge Panthers fan. Hope he plays okay.

Brice Young was a great college QB, lack of titles not withstanding. Dan Marino never won a title at any level, and barely anyone would claim that he wasn't great.

Overrated? Sure, IF your only standard for that title is a championship. But, that's short sighted.

He never did anything that wowed me. I mean, he made great plays, put up points, etc, but almost any QB can come into Bama and do that when your athletes are above and beyond more elite than the competition. I guess we’ll see for sure in the NFL.
