Not for run of the mill forecasting, that's solely done by reading weather patterns from a central location, no need for local involvement.

Now for special circumstances like hurricanes, etc, sure.

So are they going to play the game tonight? I don't see Southern and Tenn playing tonight. They are pretty socked in according to radar.

There is very little local meteorolical involvement in hurricanes or other major weather events. Tornadoes are an exception.
