As Aggies, the rivalry talk with LSU was more like a reunion with cousins that used to see for a while, then wondered why they stopped showing up in ‘95? We understand that the LSU/OM rivalry has been their bread and butter. The LSU series before A&M became coed, integrated, and corps service optional in the 60’s was typically as the money game to make the athletic budget so many times the Age would choose to have the game in Louisiana or off campus at a bigger stadium and keep the gate proceeds knowing it would be a sellout crowd.
I attended when the series renewed in the 80’s and talked to a lot of the old Ags who enjoyed the road trips. Generally speaking, in the 80’s and 90’s, we kind of felt bad about the win streak because it came at Curley’s expense. If we had listened to RC Slocum and others,we would have moved over a lot sooner. Glad to be here, but y’all have been warned, tu is like the old homecoming Queen who is over the hill, who divorced her two exes, then tried to date two other conferences as she looked down her nose at the “inferior” academics, concerned about culture clashes with the SEC. She is only here for the money until DelConte can bring about Dodds dream super conference with ND, USC, et all. There is a reason we call them Berkeley East and that has only accelerated in the past 5 years. Admittedly, we had that DEI poison worm its way into A&M.
