At first glance, it would appear to be LSU. They won the West and they beat Alabama. However, the West was dogshit last year. Alabama was not a great team. They were talented, sure. But as a team they were slightly above average. LSU was absolutely obliterated by UGA and Tennessee. And then, most embarrassingly of all, LSU was trucked by A&M. LSU finished a very modest 9-4, and won the West in arguably the weakest year of that division’s existence.

Notre Dame, on the other hand, replaced old and saggy Brian Kelly with a young up-and-comer Marcus Freeman. After a slow start, Freeman has righted the ship. He’s recruiting at a high level and appears to have a very high ceiling. Notre Dame is very familiar with Brian Kelly’s ceiling. Brian Kelly has never won a big game at the FBS level. At least with Freeman they have hope that he could take their program to new heights.

All in all, Notre Dame is likely the winner here.

Recruiting ND and Louisiana are not equal, that’s not even considering the academic strain he had at ND, which is likely what plateaued him. As far as who won, how can we determine that based off of 1 year? Kelly overachieved considering what he was left with. Nobody expected them to beat Alabama or make it to an SEC championship.

More power to ND. I hope that Freeman works out for them.

I'm happy to have Kelly here.

Bama was about as good as any team Georgia played. The only team that Georgia played with somewhat equivalent talent was Ohio State and the dogs almost lost that one.

I know you are nothing, but a troll, but try to be objective just a little.

Kelly inherited a total and complete mess. He took the job exactly 2 weeks before National signing Day. LSU fired O in mid season, therefore there was literally no recruiting taking place during the most important months of October, November, and December. He was able to salvage a decent class with 15 recruits.

LSU only had 39 scholarship players in their Texas Bowl game against Kansas St. Kelly had to take a team with only 39 scholarship players & 15 freshman recruits, and then go into the transfer portal to build a team.

Most teams have 85 scholarship players, LSU only had 69 dress out for virtually every game last year.

So…..with a decimated team, a team that started a brand new transfer QB, whom everyone thought was total trash at Arizona State, and with 2 true freshman starting at offensive tackles, he beat Alabama with a Heisman trophy winning QB, and the first overall draft pick, and won the west.

He then signed the #5 rated recruiting class in the country and brought in extremely talented players in the portal.

Id say that’s a damn freaking good job based on what he inherited.

The answer to your question is both programs won. It’s a rare occurrence, but the change was objectively positive for both of them.

So the OP uses bama as a measuring stick to determine if the SECW is good or dog shite? Interesting.

you can't be that stupid to believe that. I know a dumb arse when I see one. if you think that the SEC west was weak, then that should tell you that Georgia had a cake walk in the weak SEC east. the swac would beat half of those teams. if Georgia was in the west Kirby would be average!

Clearly LSU is currently in a better spot than Notre Dame.

Ask me again in 2-3 years.

Based off one year you know all that? My word. What are the lottery numbers this week?
