I imagine people said this when Sewanee or Tulane left the SEC. Or when the Ivy League stopped dominating. The only constant is change.

Doubtful. Modern corporate greed turns every product that it touches to shite. It just leaches the spirit and soul out of it. Just like modern music and film.
