On the contrary, I have seen tons of pitchers stick up for themselves.

No reason for the pitcher to get mad, the contact was his fault.

He was blocking the bag.

Hence it wasn’t a bench clearing brawl. But it’s progress I guess, we’ve moved from it didn’t happen to it was no big deal. You don’t shove pitchers or QBs and not get a reaction. That’s a basic truth in sports. And his reaction was just words, not a punch, the next batter wasn’t beamed, and yet dude was thrown out. And the Vandy kid was jawing back “what are you going to do about it”.

I guess baby steps are still progress.

I agree 100%. And there was only incidental contact made because he was blocking the bag. I was merely pointing out that even if the pitcher was pushed he was fully capable of retaliating without any help from a teammate. The SoftVols act like there have never been brush back pitches or hit batsmen in baseball, and pitchers somehow need protection. I can't tell you how many times a hit batter goes out to the mound and I've seen pitchers toss their gloves to the side and say "Bring it on!" to the batter.
