quote:

I quit with the Spring Game waste of time about ten years ago.

Spring Games mean absolutely nothing.

Oft times Spring Game MVPs are never heard-from again.

Many times, players in Spring Games are gone by July or August.

Sometimes, good players are unnecessarily injured in Spring Games.

Spring Games mean zilch.

... unless you're a fan, or a little kid, or a walkon perhaps, I guess. I dunno. I find no redeeming value in Spring Games.

Well said. Just hope for no major injuries.

I get the "spring games are meaningless" thing but I have one area where UGAs spring game is, indeed, meaningful...my Dad is 83 years old and he and I have spent an inordinate amount of time in my 57 years watching UGA football...and an inordinate amount of money. For at least 3 years now he has started asking me when the spring game is going to be around the middle of January LOL. He is 83....hopefully he lives another 40 years but 10 is probably a rosy outlook. It is one more UGA "game" that we get to share. For that reason alone it is, to me anyway, meaningful. From a football POV of course it is nearly meaningless...but from a man's POV who has followed UGA football since Wally Butts strode the sidelines in Athens it is another couple of hours of watching the Dawgs play football. For many of us college football is more than a game or a past time...it is the calendar of our lives and every chance to participate in any manner is time well spent....
