Aggie?? Don’t put that evil on me ricky Bobby! Anyway, can’t wait til y’all visit Fayetteville again… I’m sure y’all will have a warm welcome to the conference. Y’all are not playing TCU and Kansas anymore.

Sec is a tough grind. It’s not finesse. Longhorns are going to have to get conditioned to get hit on a weekly basis. They’ll find out it’s more physical than big 12. Curious to see if catalon stays healthy for a season. If he does, longhorns did get a heckuva safety.

That’s very Aggie of you. The point was that Texas has a winning recosd against teams that they routinely play.

Longhorn stats are always an exercise in data mining pre-1980s data to tease out a conclusion.

I just wonder how many years it will be in the SEC before the Horns start whining about revenue distribution, location of conference headquarters, media rights, or threatening to leave the conference. I give it five years, tops.

You mean.. around 1980, when the Aggies started cheating their asses off?

1st 50 games 67% Texas (1894-1943)
Next 50 games 67% Texas (1944-1993)
Last 18 games 67% Texas (1994-2011)

Overall 67% Texas

Post World War 2 Texas 67%
Pre World War 2 Texas 67%

That’s a pretty good trend imo. And you will then say.. well since I’ve been alive.. the record is about 50%.. and while that may be true.. it’s always funny to me that Aggies use this narrative and wipe away the only hardware they ever won. Anyways.. you do you Mr. Aggie Fan.

I have no doubt that this is true.. I think 8-4 will be a good season with a 9 game SEC schedule. 9-3 is probably on the bubble for a 12 team playoff.. and 10-2 or better is likely in.

Idk if Sark will be the right coach or not, but he has put together a good roster. Texas should be pretty good this year as our depth is getting a lot better, especially in the trenches. I’d argue that on paper, this is probably our best team since 2008 or 2009.

Now we’ll find out how good of a head coach that he is..

More revisionist history and one of the most hilarious self-deceptions on the part of Longhorn fan base. How Horns convinced themselves that they were a lily white oasis of academic integrity amidst the rabble of collegiate athletics is beyond me.

You guys were busted for cheating in the 80s just like everyone else.

quote:

1982 the Longhorns are put on NCAA probation for a ticket-scalping infraction involving wide receiver Johnny "Lam" Jones.

1984- Starting middle linebacker Tony Edwards was arrested long after curfew and charged with assaulting a police officer. Akers said that Edward would be able to continue to play because he “was innocent until proven guilty.

1987- Texas was put on probation for the 3rd time- but the first time with sanctions. 38 rules violation.

1989 -Texas sophomore Alan Luther’s’ jeep police find a syringe and a small vial of liquid labeled “epitestosterone.” Alan is released but charged with possession of a controlled substance. Dodds ordered one of the most extensive, expensive drug-testing programs in college athletics. The players were all passing the test. In the spring of 1989, the Austin American-Statesman challenged the reports of football players passing the drug test, reporting that as many as 25 Texas football players had used steroids after 1986 and that some players continued to use them during the 1989 season. The substance is used as a masking agent for a drug test.

Fun Fact: Texas Football is 188-107-10 (63%) against Oklahoma, Texas A&M & Arkansas and has a winning record against all 3 rivals.

Yes, because a player getting in trouble and doing something stupid is definitely the same as multiple major recruiting violations.

I’m not going to argue it. It’s that stupid of an argument. If you want to hang your hat on that.. by all means.. go for it.

The reality is this. over the next 100 years.. Texas will win around 60-70 of the games against Texas A&M. You know it. I know it. Everyone knows it.

You will then cherry pick from those 30-40 wins and beat your chest because in your head, those were the games that really mattered. And at the end of the day, you will still have no hardware since World War 2, which will be close to 200 years.

1940 - 2124 No Hardware

Texas is 18-8 vs Arkansas, A&M and Missouri since 2000.

The reality is . . . .Texas will likely:

- start out every season ranked much higher than is deserved

- drop a competitive games early to some team equivalent to Oklahoma State, Iowa State, or Texas Tech

- Decline further as the season goes on eventually lose to a near winless squad like Kansas

- Go to a mediocre bowl game, likely the Tax Act Texas Bowl, and lose to a decent Pac or ACC team.

Wash, rinse, repeat year after year, decade after decade.

I would be digging back into the LBJ years as well in that scenario. We get it.

The obvious difference in this league and the Big 12 is the elite DL at Bama, LSU, & Georgia. If you aren’t athletic, strong and long there and can’t consistently block those guys, you’re screwed.

Can Texas do that? I like the OL coach, and we’ve stacked two classes at the line of scrimmage since Sark arrived. Looking like a third is coming to have the depth we need to survive the grind. I don’t think we’re an elite SEC program, but we’re building a much more physical one, that’s for sure.

I hope the push for Dallas SEC HQ, but it winds up in Little Rock as a compromise position.

As much as I enjoy trolling the whorns... this is, in the long term, a good thing for them. Oklahoma to.

They got fat and lazy. Trust me, I know fat and lazy. In the depleted Big 12 they could fart around and still stumble their way to good record or even a (on paper) great one. Then they'd get their way to the big money games and get roflstomped.

Not that long ago we watched a thunderously average Arkansas team beat Texas like we caught them stealing. It was a how to example of a "name" team that was... to use a Texas phrase... all hat and no cattle. We've seen the same from Oklahoma in recent years.

Put them out there with SEC competition, where the games off are few and far between and they either turn into Vanderbilt West or have to toughen up. If they toughen up either school is playing for a national title sooner rather than later.

Watch out for that first step, it's a doozy.

How to get to Texas: go west until you smell sh*t, you're in Oklahoma, then go south until you step in it. You're there!

Shitty state that cost a bunch of good Tennesseans their lives. Honestly, just give the star back to Mexico with Southern California at this point.
