Lipscomb Alum here.
As long as Lipscomb has been division 1, they’ve never shied away from the big payday match ups in all sports. For a small program they’ve had some pretty good results although sporadically. During my time, they beat Indiana at Assembly Hall and gave Kentucky all they could handle at Rupp. I watched our baseball team beat #1 Vandy at Dugan Field with David Price on the mound.
As far as football, it’s long been the policy of Lipscomb University to not establish a football program because “football brings in sin and debauchery.”
Why that doesn’t apply to the academy, I have no idea, but they are starting to churn out power 5 prospects.
Not sure Lipscomb could handle the sin and debauchery that comes with the SEC full time.

And it is insanely expensive compared to most sports. In the SEC football is the money maker, for most colleges it is what drains an already small budget the fastest.
