They tend to devote more resources into basketball team building. They don’t field a team of one and done kids. So a good coach that gets to develop a team with the full support of a school with less restrictions on recruiting.

A lot of these mid majors listed (particularly Big East schools) are in major cities/metro areas. Basketball is king there for kids to play. Not football.
