I would say the SEC plays a distinct style of basketball. Tough, physical, low scoring games are the norm in the SEC. But that style of play leaves SEC teams very vulnerable to hot shooting teams, because SEC teams just aren't built to keep pace in a shootout.
All it takes is one bad matchup with a team that gas a hot shooter or two to end a tourny run for most SEC teams.

What you really mean is....ARKANSAS isn't yet good again at basketball.

But that is usually true of any team no matter the conference

SEC just needed shooters this year. I doubt many of the teams in the Sweet 16 could have survived a full conference season, but can’t go far in March without them.

Like when FAU went on an 18-point heater in the second half and Barnes couldn't be bothered to call a timeout and stop the momentum? The dude has very little feel for the game.

The teams that survive are the ones with shooters of their own who can keep up in a scoring contest. Other conferences always seem to have more teams who can do that than the SEC does.

Disagree. Tennessee lost Ziegler. Expectations for our recruits and injuries didn’t play out. And many SEC teams have beaten many good teams. We beat a 1 seed from the big 12. UConn is legit and there’s no shame in that. Surprised Tennessee has done so well without Ziegler. Not saying we’re the best conference. But we were among the best overall this year.

You wouldn’t have posted this if Arkansas hadn’t just got their shite pushed in by the Huskies.

The SEC has a bunch of great athletes that can play defense. Most of the offenses are predicated off getting turnovers and dribble penetration. It is fashioned after the NBA game where you have two man games at different spots on the floor, Watch UCONN and Gonzaga last night. The ball and player movement on offense was able to get open looks for multiple players.
This right here. The SEC is good, but the top of the Big East is on another level. We experienced it with Creighton earlier this year. Their offenses are the best in the game, because they don't just rely on having talented players.

So recruit some freakin' shooters. You have 3 McDonald's all-americans on your team.

SEC is good but our poor officating clouds exactly what the landscape looks like and prevents some good teams from making the tourney and allows some bad teams to be over-seeded as a result.

Aggies coming in 2nd in the league because they shot 30 FT's a game didnt help anyone, themselves included

And didn't help them with their seed in the Dance. But they also made it to the championship game in the SEC tourney. Just beat them.

you are confirming my point.
SEC success doesnt translate to NCAA success because of the officiating
no one cares about 2nd place in the conference tourney or even first for that matter

These other programs aren't traveling the same road every year. You can praise them for this year's achievement but everything has to fall into place. UCLA would have beaten Gonzaga had they not had 2 starters sitting on the bench. Laugh all you want at Tennessee, I enjoy it too, but losing that guard was brutal. I said yesterday before the games that both UCLA and Tennessee would start missing their stars. They did.
When the K-State guard went out for just a moment with an ankle sprain Sparty started to roll over them. He comes back and started delivering dimes again and they are off and running.
Lot of reasons it just ain't your year.
