quote:Did you actually read the article? She talks about that. They don't play us, yet create merchandise solely around us, can't even call us by our name, do our hand sign more than their own, and sing songs entirely about us (and all of this when they're not playing us).
I went and looked at the replies to the girl's article and very few people agreed with her. My question is, how would some girl in College Station or Austin know anything about the UTA/A&M rivalry? She would have been in elementary school the last time they played each other. The author of the article has no idea what she's talking about.
It's literally her point. And the fact that all of the comments were from rage-filled cultists that couldn't specifically discredit what she was saying and instead asked her to transfer are literally proving her point.

Some man posted a long reply that listed some of the reasons Aggies think UTA folks are asshats outside of football rivalry. Off the top of my head were things like: UTA played politics around A&M opening a law school which held up the opening for decades, UTA tried to have the state legislature close down A&M in the 1900s,so they could get more funding for themselves, even though A&M was founded first.
That's according to their own history. They were never meant to be the flagship, and the past 100+ years has done nothing but prove exactly that

What merchandise have they created? I haven't seen any UTA merchandise in any of the stores when I've been in College Station. Or seen anyone wearing any on campus. Besides going down with my kid for school stuff, I've gone to each game that we've played in College Station against the aggies, and gone to a couple of games with my LSU buddies.
Their fight song is the only song that mentions UTA. Have you ever sang or heard or read the UTA fight song? Guess who UTA is singing about??? Answer: A&M!!
Here is how the UTA fight song begins in case you've never heard it: "Texas Fight!Texas Fight! And its goodbye to A&M."
One thing I'll say for A&M. Psycho ex girlfriends aren't in the habit of moving away from their boyfriends. They stalk them and follow them. Similar to how UTA stalked and followed A%M to SEC.

quote:You are mistaken. TAMC was formed by the legislature in 1871 as a stand-alone institution. Five years later, the Legislature changed its mind (for the first time) and the state Constitution was amended to add the following language:
You do realize Texas a&m was originally created to be a branch of the University of Texas at Austin, right? That's according to their own history. They were never meant to be the flagship, and the past 100+ years has done nothing but prove exactly that
quote:When the Legislature finally got around to establishing t.u. in 1883, they changed their collective mind AGAIN and elected NOT to put the two institutions into the same system, so they established a Board of Regents for t.u. independent of the TAMC Board of Regents which was already in existence.
The Agricultural and Mechanical College of Texas, established by an Act of the Legislature passed April 17th, 1871, located in the county of Brazos, is hereby made, and constituted a Branch of the University of Texas, for instruction in Agriculture, the Mechanic Arts, and the Natural Sciences connected therewith. And the Legislature shall at its next session, make an appropriation, not to exceed forty thousand dollars, for the construction and completion of the buildings and improvements, and for providing the furniture necessary to put said College in immediate and successful operation.
A legislative body that was unable to maintain its focus from one Session to the next? Imagine that.
