No one is disputing the fact that there was a jersey grab. However, I think what pisses off the casual fan is the fact that it something of a "blink and you'll miss it" kind of hold, that it occurred behind the line of scrimmage, and that the ball was nowhere close to being catchable (though this last one doesn't really matter in the case of defensive holding). That kind of holding happens on just about every pass play involving man coverage. The refs usually let it slide. However, this ref decided to make it THE play of the game. Virtually no one wants to see a Super Bowl decided by a penalty like that.

This is really what it comes down too. If you're a Chiefs fan, obviously you are going to take it; but you can't convince me it doesn't taint it in at least some small way. We were all deprived of an exciting ending to a pretty exciting Super Bowl because a ref interjected himself into a play where he didn't need to and shouldn't have.
