Last year of SEC divisions

I just realized that this will be the last year of the SEC East and SEC West divisions.
How do you feel about this? Are you feeling nostalgic at all or mainly happiness?
I don't think I'll miss the divisions but I will miss playing some of our key games every year. I think we will lose the annual game against Arkansas. I'll miss that, as it was usually a pretty even match-up that provided some really entertaining games.

Kind of crazy that divisions will only have lasted about 30 years. When the non division format lasted for 60.

So you have one more try to win the West so that silly banner in your stadium claiming one won’t be a total fraud

Excited. Sorry we had to take Texas and Oklahoma to make it happen though.

Divisions were good and bad. We gained a rivalry with Tennessee, but lost one with Auburn.

Good think we got our two sec west rings when we could!

I really hope divisions stay but I'm certainly not expecting them too.

At the 12 team level they were good. 14 it took too long to cycle through.
With that said it definitely provided a solid goal to hit and a marker for a great season even without a NC. Will never forget beating auburn to go to the seccg in 2001. Every move in the last 5-10 years has de emphasized the regional sport and making it national championship or bush.
Also as to someone leaves point it brought in some new rivals.
We rarely played auburn previously and Florida wasn’t annual game until the 70s and certainly then being a permanent cross division added something more to the game. Hell I even like our game with tflagship and can’t see that continuing either.
With that said I think the new additions are great from a football side and think this is a good thing.

Don’t worry, you’ll always have your 2003 co-division championship

I HATE it because it easily ranks the conference in 2 groups that WILL NEED EXTRA TIE-BREAKERS to be created to sort going forward.

I'll miss the annual games with all the West teams, as some have gone through stretches of really intense matchups. One of my favorite annual games is either Auburn or Florida, and I doubt those two will be one of our permanent matchups.
I am looking forward to going to all of the different stadiums more often. When it was a 12-team league, going to away games and playing all of the cross divisional teams every other year was fun. Expansion got away from that. This new format will make things better in that regard, and it was needed. Going to an East school's stadium once every 12 years was not right.

If your conference can have a yearly FULL round-robin format, divisions aren't needed. If you can't, KEEP them.

Well we will not have to listen to the tigers bitch about being in the west and begging to be moved to the east. So there’s that.

I for one will be sad to see the east division go.

For some reason, I’m not too upset… in fact, sorta happy?

I for one welcome the opportunity to play our traditional rivals Vanderbilt more often.

Last chance for Ole Miss or Aggie to win the West

I'm for it. It'll be nice to see Ole Miss and Auburn more than every 7 yrs or whatever fricked up shite we've got right now.

Ours will probably never look as ridiculous as the Big 12s, but having a first and second place team play another game when they were two games apart and the regular season winner having won the head to head already is a possibility. And that seems kind of stupid without divisions.
