possibility of a new basketball arena. At the very least major improvements to CLA.
Off campus basketball arena is such a stupid idea.

Naw. I figured he made enough $ underperforming at Carolina. A real let down from his 15 minutes of glory at UF.

Sweetheart? Hate to break it to you but I’m married. Happily. So you can stop the flirting.
Georgia doesn’t need me or anyone else speaking of their importance. That’s apparent to anyone who watches college football.
Poor SC. Always third best. Always a wannabee.

I’ve got a feeling this is gonna be another one of those $13 million UF NIL deals. When it comes time to produce the big bucks everyone looks around and says
“who me?”
“who me?”

USCe has done a great job at connecting the corridor that leads from the University to the stadium. The stadium just 20 years ago seem like it was out in the middle of nowhere and now it is developed all along the way. I certainly applaud their efforts, and think that William Bryce is one of the most unique stadiums in the SEC; However, if they use that $1 billion towards NIL. They would stand a better chance at winning a Natty then by upgrading their stadium.

They're building a Hootie and the Blowfish museum aren't they?

From the Gamecock media...

I’ve attended college football games at most of the stadiums in the SEC. At almost all of them, you’ll find a tailgating scene and a vibe similar to what you find at Georgia: A vast array of small, isolated parking lots, faceless parking garages, and small fan gatherings situated on wherever space that can be claimed. I have yet to find anything similar to what we have at Williams-Brice, which is surrounded by the State Fairgrounds and Gamecock Park, and thus on gameday resembles a vast occupying army encampment complete with tents and flags flying into the horizon.
quote:
What if it were possible to tailgate along the Congaree River before a South Carolina football game? The Congaree is not the type of waterway that is ever going to allow for something like the Vol Navy tailgating scene in Knoxville. What is possible, though? Shouldn’t we be asking those questions?
What if there were a long greenway stretching from the waterway to the stadium, allowing for pedestrian traffic and tailgating? What if there were commemorations of the school’s athletic history along that greenway? What if, as has already been mentioned by many others, there were opportunities for residential and retail development that would make gamedays more enjoyable?

Sounds great but this is some of the same property that they tried to build Green Diamond which was going to be shopping and housing but it's all deep in the flood plan and no one would finance it. The river is still there and still runs out of it's banks so what happened in 25 years to now they can build this. Heck we still have 5 points stores getting inches of water in their stores and cars at the University half flooded just with a heavy rainfall.

I like the idea of a nine hole golf course over there.

Are they moving it up the hill closer to campus?
Either way, its going to be a big upgrade to the annual state fair

Well I'm hearing that funding is already accounted for. If they pull off what they have envisioned South Carolina will be a MUST game to attend. No other school will have anything like this and I'm shocked that this has been in the works but will put us as a destination stop for sure.

That’s the one thing I’d like to know about before any development takes place - what will be done to mitigate the risk of flooding as much as possible? IIRC, that’s one of the factors that killed the Green Diamond project - and I think I was still in college when this was discussed (early 2000’s).
ETA: if the school already has the funding for it, bra-vo! I’m surprised that this was kept a secret for this long…

For once they actually put all the pieces together before it being announced. For once we will be leading the pack.

Billion Dollar stadium area improvement while vast numbers of people no longer go to games or brick and mortar retail. Brilliant
