Why y'all doing this to yourselves? I get the frustration, but we aren't hiring an HC this year.

The most logical chain of events I've read is that Stricklin would go before Napier, and that probably won't happen until February at the earliest if it were to happen. Stricklin has tied himself to Napier, and Sasse isn't going to circumvent the AD to fire a coach before getting rid of an AD he doesn't trust.

There's no time to do an AD search and have that person ready to go by February 7, and everyone is afraid to rock the recruiting boat by making the program look any less stable than it already does.

Sticklin could get the ax after that, but who knows. My guess is that 2024 is all your favorite coaches and admins from 2023 with their jobs on the line.

Should have added - It's not just trusting the AD to pull the trigger when the time comes; it's also trusting him to hire the next guy. If Napier goes, there is no way Sticklin hires the next coach, and Sasse and the rest of the admin aren't going to keep paying an AD who they don't trust with key hires.

I agree with this completely but if Napier doesn't make the changes necessary in the off season and show improvement in 2024, Stricklin needs to be fired and Napier right behind him. Stricklin can't be trusted to hire the next head coach.
