why is southern cal and texas on this list? Neither has made a playoff, and only socal this year got close.

LSU had 2019 but other than that hasnt been close.

UGA, Bama, Ohio State, Clemson (yuck), Oklahoma, Michigan, have been the mainstays. outside of that some teams are one off

Finished 6th in the country in 2018, that's pretty close.

Both schools can frick themselves in the ear until their tiny brains rattle. Win a CFP semi first, then talk to us about being contenders.

I think the point is who can get the talent to win it. LSU has had the talent to win it pretty much for the last 20 years. LSU is #2, only behind Bama, with former players in the NFL. UGA and Ohio State are up there with Bama and LSU as the clear top 4.

Now, coaching at LSU has not always been up to par, lots of bogey's to the dreaded snowman.

Both have the resources and talent base
regardless of CFP history.

Past performance is not necessarily indicative of future results. The only hard requirement to win a natty is to recruit at a high enough level, else we see what happened in the championsip game.

All our losses this season were within a touchdown. We switch coaches or Ewers or Arch lights it up and we're in it.

You mean other than 2019, 2011, 2007, 2006, 2003…

Only Alabama has more national championships over that period of time and likely the only school with more players sent to the NFL.

Yes, LSU is among the list, no question about it .
