Not a huge fan of a 12 team playoff but I hope it at least leads to more parity. Those Bama Clemson rematches were not good for the sport or for the average fan

Then the average fan needs to upgrade their standards.

Those Alabama and Clemson teams would have CLOWNED anyone else in a 12 team playoff. The 12 team playoff will be fun for those random mid-seed matchups it creates in the 1st round, but in the end there are only ever 2-3 teams a year that can actually win the title.

It's just adding extra steps to arrive at the same conclusion.

I believe it makes the average fan have to come to terms with the fact that he's a fan of an average team.

Like the idea of more quality college football games and a 12 team playoff will usually mean more quality college football games...but had the 12 game system been in place this year odds are pretty good that its UGA and Alabama again tonight in a pick 'em game. Won't be a popular take around here but it ain't way off the mark....

Exactly how would allowing more weak teams in promote parity?

I get what you are saying but it would have ended the same way even if 24 teams had made the playoff. They were the two best teams.

The object is to get the two best teams, not get two different teams every year.

It kills me when fans of lesser teams look at better teams and their takeaway is that those good teams shouldn't be so good rather than saying their team needs to get better. Not a philosophy for success.

It will, just look at the NFL. Free agency, salary cap and expanded playoffs has lead to lots of parity.

Same is happening to college football.
