Check Pruitts stats vs ranked opponents.
He basically played the world's softest schedule in 2015. 10 win season and all of them were arse.

Pass numbers always look great for a defense that can't stop the run (and a defense that plays against gus malzahn, Paul Johnson, and Georgia southern in the same year).

Oh, given a choice, I'm going with the guy who can stop the run consistently.

But, it seems we are all just cheery picking here.

I get what you are saying about Tech, Southern, etc but we could pick apart a lot of Kirby's years as a DC, I'm sure, if we started nit picking.

I guess our view of Pruitt is all relative to what we feel.

By all accounts, Pruitt is a great defensive coordinator. He improved upon every defense that he ever helmed. From FSU to Alabama.

I'm not sitting here worshipping Pruitt. I've grown to despise the man since his tenure here. With everything that we now know about him, turns out he really did fit in with the hillbillies of UT. He's a fricking idiot with, perhaps, an extra chromosome.

But, I'm not gonna reshape my opinion of his ability based upon his being an a-hole or an idiot as a head coach.

You can call it cherry picking stats.

You used conference rank (vs pass and scoring defense).
I am too. I am just ranking the stats against good opponents (ranking against the rest of the SEC playing good opponents).
We had a Charmin soft schedule in 2015. 10 wins and none of them worth a damn supports that. There are several reasons why the pass stats look good. It isn't a bad thing to pull back the covers and review context.

The part that pisses me off about Pruitt is the crappy performances against bad offenses though. Florida. South Carolina. Kentucky. Tennessee. Either the pass defense or the run defense was worthless in those games. We were more talented than those teams.
