Legit question, is the rule different for advancing the ball in the field of play if the ball is out of bounds but the player isn’t yet (like what we just saw with Bowers) vs if a player is diving for the endzone and the ball has to cross INSIDE the pylon? I wouldn’t think so. That’s why I didn’t see how that was a first down.

This is not true. It’s all about where the ball is. Your entire body can be in the endzone but if the ball crosses out of bounds before it gets to the pylon you’re short
