Williams was lost in a blowout against a team that had absolutely no goddamn business being on the field with Bama.

Also, Williams went down in the second quarter of the National Championship game against UGA. Not sure what he is talking about there.

I am continuously curious as to why so many supposed CFB fans are against watching more meaningful games than what the bowls have become. Sure, at this time there is probably a wide gulf between #1 and #12, but if more teams can get in with a chance to play for title, then I do think some parity will follow.

Not to mention, it might just might allow the insanity that is coaching expectations to settle down a bit and we might just see what can happen when coaching staffs get more than a one year grace period and programs can benefit from continuity. It would make those habitually above average programs but not top echelon programs more stable, and more likely to come up with a stellar year on occasion.

Also, I think people keep bitching about blow outs. I think the majority of games will be pretty good. Sure there might be a program head and shoulders above the rest some years, but it is unlikely every year, and well injuries and shite happens. However, regardless of how the season turns out, whether you are a champion or a chump, everyone still has to start over the next season, so yeah I would rather watch fun football more than just have the same few teams get too much benefit of the doubt because of name recognition.

The only big issue I see is the portal timeline with new semesters, but here is where the playoffs might really be a benefit as I think you will see far fewer players immediately decide to jump just because they can and put more thought into sticking with a program for at least two-three years unless they really do have a major issue other than just doing it because they can.
