Great article by Boston media about reasons for Mac's struggles this year.

Good read. Lays the blame squarely on Belichick and his decision to put Patricia in charge of the offense...basically setting Mac up to fail.

yep. All it needed was a headline and picture of Belichick. Mac going off on the sideline was probably the best thing he could have done for himself.

Went from the best situation of the rookie QBs last year to the worst situation this year

When I've watched the Patriots to support Mac, I always notice that their offensive line seems shockingly bad for an NFL team.

He needs a real OC. But BB probably won't hire one. Mac has the gun. BB just won't allow him to turn it loose. Plus he needs somsoweapons.their WR room is terrible.

Belichick pulled a Flores on his young QB in year 2. Pretty nuts you don't try to actually help your second year QB.

The offensive line don't even have the proper coaching they need. The folks who's coaching them never coached that position before.

BB just did something flat out STUPID and if he doesn't hire a legit offensive coordinator and line coach then they will be in the same boat next season.

I think they have some weapons but you wouldn't know that because you got Matt Patricia as an offensive coordinator lol WTF !

O yea, the offensive line SUCKS too.

Needs:

Offensive coordinator & Line Coach
Shifty slot receiver
Explosive scat back
Upgrade the O Line

I don't think it's an intentional effort to destroy a young QB because of personal animosity. Belichick just won't make outside hires because he doesn't trust people who have never been part of the organization, and none of his former OCs were available. He is basically the NFL version of Dabo when it comes to staffing decisions. I'd be really surprised if BooB wasn't back there next year. As bad as he is he's still a very clear upgrade from someone as unqualified as Patricia.

A big reason for that is Belichick changed the entire blocking scheme in the off season. He changed to a zone blocking scheme and it's been a disaster. Add that to having three defensive guys run your offense and this is what you get.

Mac Jones and Marcus Jones basically dragged this team towards an upset but they took the ball out of Mac’s hands on a goal to go.

Bourne played a good game as well.

I'm beginning to think Stephenson isn't the answer. 2 weeks in a row he's cost his team. Not only did he fumble this game but he dropped multiple late passes. Hopefully Harris will be back soon.

I’ll ask it this way:

Is there any position group at which Mac Jones didn’t have better talent at Bama than he does with the Patriots?

Coaching: Sark >>>>> Patricia
QB: Mac + Bryce >>>>> Mac + Zappe
OL: Bama >>> Patriots
RB: Najee + Robinson >>> Stevenson
WR: Smith/Waddle/Metchie >>>>> Patriots
