Is a myth now with NIL and portal. Can’t really build anymore and don’t buy people selling you that. It’s win now or else.

LSU and Ole Miss did that, I think, up to a reasonable point. Brian Kelley was in year 1 of what everyone understood to be a mess--you could see that in the Florida State game. All things considered, he did a great job in year 1.

Ole Miss lost its top 7 contributors on offense, so it was a portal do-over. One myth I think there is about the portal is you can just throw a box of parts together and make a team. These things take a bit to gel. Kiffin should have won the Egg Bowl. Wasn't surprised at the other losses.

Billy Napier also took over a mess. Jury's out on how well that guy is going to do over the long haul, but it's not going to be easy. The East is better right now than it has been in years.

Funny, seemed to me like his running game, upon which he depended all year, got stuffed for 78 yards by a more physical team, and the only reason he had a chance was because of turnovers and Will Rogers’ often poor pocket awareness.

This. I mean you can get lucky and have a transfer start instantly producing, plenty of examples of that, but imo overall it still takes time.

State should have won Egg Bowl 31-16. They took away a TD and we coughed the ball up on the nail-in-the-coffin drive at your 1yd line
