quote:

does not excuse the fact that this Golding-coached, veteran defense gave up 318 yards on the ground (at 7.4 yards / attempt) to a team that sits at the bottom of the SEC standings.

Additionally, these teams held Auburn to fewer points this year:
- San Jose State
- Penn State
- Missouri
- LSU
- UGA
- A&M
**Arkansas allowed 27 points; the same as UA.

That is absolutely horrendous and there should not be a single Alabama fan that continues to vouch for Golding at this point. I was optimistic before the season started that Golding would flip the script this year and field an outstanding defensive unit, but with his group’s performance this year, he has further solidified the idea that he has long overstayed his welcome in Tuscaloosa.

For additional context here's a list of teams that held Auburn to less yards than we did.

Western Kentucky (10 yards less)
Texas A&M (180 yards less)
Mississippi State (64 yards less - Includes overtime)
Georgia (137 yards less)
Missouri (178 yards less)
San Jose State (17 yards less)

Mercer, San Jose State and Western Kentucky gave up less rushing yards to Auburn than we did... Again, Mercer, San Jose State and Western Kentucky. And those teams were playing at Auburn. That's an embarrassment.

Golding can not be allowed to come back.

mlb'er has been a snoozefest ever since golding arrived. thats cns's fault for forcing him to coach a position he had never coached before. as for the scheme, i hate the bend but dont break crap. because it ends up breaking more often than it should.

look, my brother and i have come to the conclusion that this team suffers, moreso than the previous 2, suffers from the perfect storm. a change in the way they tackle. a change in the s&c program. a change in both offensive and defensive scheme, with both coordinators being subpar. all of this has come together to wipe out the bama standard. this doesnt even include the fact that players are cashing in with nil money, regardless of how they play.

Yep you are absolutely correct. Our defensive performance against this Auburn team was far from acceptable, all things considered. Given how one-dimensional their QB was, the success they had running the ball against us was (still is) staggering.
