Gene Chizik won a national title at Auburn in Year 2 and was fired two years later. I remember when Jim Donnan went 10-2 and beat Florida in Year 2 and Georgia finally had the right coach, and then he was fired three years later. There's a long list of college coaches who had their best season in Year 2.

It's fun to say that "this is only the beginning and wait until Heupel has all of his recruits in there," but unfortunately it's not linear and that's not how shite works.

What if 2022 actually turned out to be a golden opportunity and the best chance that Tennessee had for another 15 years, and then they choked and they blew it?

Tennessee’s in a world of hurt. Hypel brought in a gimmick O and it worked for awhile, that is until UGA showed the blueprint for beating it. Now he’s standing there with his pecker in his hand. It will only be a few more games until that rock is painted with “fahr the Hype”.

Why the negativity?

Savvy 24 yr old transfer QBs that are older than some NFL starters..are abundant and fall off trees.

We've sucked for so long that winning 8-9 games a year feels like nirvana

This either means you are so thirsty that you eventually die of it or you are used to being thirsty and have adapted to being thirsty.

That defensive roster was absolutely gutted after Pruitt left. They were super depleted last year and are still reeling off that.

Chizik got maybe the best CFB player ever to will him to a title. Heupel took a journeyman no one wanted and turned him into a Heisman contender. The only way Hendon Hooker was gonna see the NFL before Heupel was if he bought a ticket to a game.

I get your overall point and agree with it, things can quickly fall apart. That said, I think Heupel has shown that he will be successful if he gets the leeway and time.

He was good at VT though. He just didn’t have the gimmick O to give him the stats.

Did Moses ever actually lead them to the land of milk and honey?

Good question. I missed that day of Bible 101 as I didn’t have to go to the puritan Georgia college in milledegeville for college.
