So MSY can handle this type of traffic (and has dozens of times) but BNA can't? Both airports serve roughly the same amount of passengers on an annual basis. ATL is the busiest airport, but you don't have to have a major hub to handle SEC champ games lol.

It's not about the number of passengers that fly under normal circumstances. It is more about how many additional flights that can be allowed to maximize the flight slots. Slots are limited according to FAA capabilities, gates and many, many other factors. I worked in the airline industry for 33 1/2 years. (30 years at the Atlanta airport)

Depends on how many passengers you want to add to the mix. Atlanta is not at full capacity. (Or it wasn't a few years ago) They can easily add additional flights due to flight slots being available. (Admittedly that might have changed in recent years. People don't realize you can't just add flights and bring extra people in. (And by the way....New Orleans also has Baton Rouge nearby that can (and does) absorb some traffic. I worked at the Baton Rouge airport for 3 1/2 years.

Again. If the consensus among the SEC is to move, then move. But for fans to think the stadium is going to sit empty during conference championship week 3 out of 4 or 4 out of 5 years is not correct. The ACC would come fill the void and the stadium would be rented out every year not to mention the city of Atalanta would gain untold millions in visitor revenue by way of restaurants, hotels and sites and rental cars.

Trust me, BNA could hack it. No problems with slots either.
