Auburn just poured out $40MM to 2 staffs in the last 2 yrs. They are freaking loaded and will pay the next guy Fisher/Saban/Kelly type money and they'll get a guaranteed HC in there.

OM tried this strategy with Matt Luke, and we all know how that turned out.

Because we'd rather hire a coach with more head coaching experience. Not real hard to understand.

Because they want to be better than Cadillac's current level of experience will propel them.

Anyone that takes the job is a gamble. You ain't in the running for any A or even B list coaches.

The Auburn job is the best available job right now. Next cycle, we might have to compete with Texas and other top programs for a new HC…

Because an emotional hire shouldn’t be the choice after paying 15 mil to can another coach. Auburn has a chance to make a big time hire and everyone is pulling in the same direction.

Obvious reason would also he has zero head coaching exp.

""We can tell how much love he's got for us and how much support he has for us, even before he was the head coach," junior defensive lineman Marcus Harris said after the win. "Just to get him in that position that he was in and help him win his first game as a head coach, that was amazing."

Linebacker Cam Riley echoed similar sentiments.

"Coach Cadillac is a good man," he said. "It feels good to go out there and play for him."

Money can't buy that!
Cadillac's got the teams' vote and confidence! Hell!...what's a one year contract with performance bonuses and the possibility for a more permanent one, if he succeeds gonna hurt?....NOTHING!...and it'll certainly go far with the AA athletes in school!
Auburn's been unsuccessful using all the "guidelines" that this thread's posters have crowed about, so why not at least, try?

It's not gonna happen.

Players almost always love the interim coach and want them hired as HC. That's why they are usually chosen for the role.

Is that the current candidate for the job? Not sure you can land him to be honest.

Your only prayer is somehow hiring dirtbag Freeze to match your dirtbag basketball coach. Funny how the only time the barn hires somewhat of a name it's when they've been caught blatantly cheating and violating the rules.

Outside of that, you're going to get fricked with Mullen and it's going to be hysterical.

I know you bammers are trolling with this, but...

Auburn's roster next season currently is Vanderbilt level.

Auburn needs to make a big splash in the portal.

To make a big splash in the portal with a new coach, the new coach needs to be an attractive sell.

Outside of Auburn, Alabama, Carnell Williams is not an attractive sell.

You would then be going into 23 with a Vanderbilt roster and a green head coach that would get a very short shelf-life on the emotional pop. Then a beloved Auburn player will get absolutely savaged. Not a good look for anyone.

So no, it's not a good idea to structure any term contract for Caddy. He's got potential, but now isn't the time to throw him to the wolves.

Guess how much I don't give a shite what barners think?

Don't be so angry boys, you'll be back to averaging 8 win seasons in no time at all.

Now how would Head Coach Nick Saban hire him as head coach?

Really knocking it out of the park today aren't you, John Mark?

I think y'all should promote Freddie Roach to HC when Saban hangs it up.
