Pringle is only 6'9, though. I think those 3 would be similar to Chuck/Clowney/Pringle.

Sherrell's game sounds a lot more like Clowney anyway.

He wil probably be 7’0 230 by the time he gets here, he is 6’11 220 as a jr Clowney is 6’9 210.

H.S. Scouting Summary

Aiden Sherrell has a muscular frame with long arms. His strong base allows him to establish a good position on the block where he is a good area rebounder. Sherrell can finish over both shoulders, in traffic, and has solid explosion, getting above the rim. At 6-foot-10, he can stretch the floor, extending beyond the three-point line. Sherrell tends to play too much on the perimeter. At this point, he is most effective playing from the inside-out. There is a lot there, great natural tools.

SUMMARY

Aiden Sherrell has a great frame; he has long arms and a very projectable build. What stuck out first was his rebounding. He has a good motor around the basket and did a good job cleaning up on the boards. Offensively, Sherrell is still a bit raw, but he has all the tools. He can put it on the floor some, he has touch, and he has good hands. Now, Sherrell just needs to tighten up the overall package. While it may not be there in its entirety just yet, the production is happening, and he seems to get better each time he steps on the floor.

Idk just hard for me to see Sherrell playing the 4 (where Clowney mostly plays) at 6’11 230. He does give us something at the 5 that Chuck and Pringle dont in his ability to shoot.

I'd imagine that we'd use Pringle more at the 4 that year they are all here (assuming they are). Who knows what Pringle will look like by then, though, in terms of offensive game.

Yeah thats possible. Most think we are in the lead for 2024 PF Donnie Freeman who projects to be pretty similar to Clowney.

Yep - those would be 2 great pickups.

Oats and Hodge are so good at identifying guys who fit what we do and how we do it perfectly.

On his ideal roster I would imagine Oats wants 3-4 bigs who all possess Clowney's offensive skill set and rebounding ability, but with at least one of them in the 6'11-7'1" 240+ range to be able to anchor the paint defensively.

CB was limping in the AU game. I think he tweaked it then.

Yeah me too, hard to find a 4 and a 5 more perfect for our system than Freeman and Sherrell would be, if they both pan out. Both will probably end up ranked in the top 30, Rivals already said they will possibly bump Sherrell up to a 5 star when they update their rankings.

Now that we're to a point where our staff is getting to recruit based on a normal evaluation cycle, which is like 3-5 years in basketball, I have a lot of faith that our hit rate on recruits is going to be really high. The first couple of classes were kinda hit or miss because it was more of a get bodies, BPA kind of situation. I mean even looking at some of the dudes we recruited hard and missed on you can tell they know what they're doing. Jarace Walker has been really good on a stacked Houston team and is a one and done. Brice Sensabaugh was a second tier recruit like Clowney and he's going to be a one and done too.

Alabama hoops is 18-0 when leading at the half this season. They're 2-3 when down at halftime and 2-0 when tied (that includes Saturday at Auburn).

True and recruits have to love our ability to get players from HS to the first round of the draft quickly. Primo, Davison, Miller, Clowney are all gonna be one and dones it looks like and thats a PG, SG,SF, and a PF so its not like we are doing it at just one position.

While already here when this staff was hired this staff/system improved Kira and Herbs draft stock a lot too.

Crazy that we might have 4 first round picks in 3 years. Aside from Sexton who was the last first round pick we had before this staff? Was it Mo Williams? I may be forgetting about someone.

ETA: nvm Williams was a 2nd rounder. 47th pick.

They know exactly what they want in terms of body type and skill and exactly what they want in terms of demeanor.

Look at all the kids we've signed in the full eval classes and their emotions. None of them get frazzled. Even JD, who quite frankly probably wouldn't have been recruited by us if he was from Ohio or Colorado but was because he was in state. He was a great kid who played hard and didn't get emotional.

It's just really awesome to such a staff and head coach who have a very specific system and approach that they are totally confident in. And even more awesome that the system/player type they want is frickin badass.

We're in the good times.

Sexton was our first 1st round pick since Gerald Wallace in 2001. We're about to have our 3rd/4th in 5 years and 5th in 6 years.

Wimps last great teams (and early Hobbs with Wimps players) had our best run of 1st round picks.

1992 - Robert Horry (1R, 11)
1992 - Latrell Sprewell (1R, 24)
1993 - Hollywood Robinson (1R, 21)
1995 - Antonio McDyess (1R, 2)
1995 - Jason Caffey (1R, 20)
1996 - Roy Rogers (1R, 22)

Miller will the 2nd highest drafted player in Alabama basketball history behind McDyess if he goes 3rd as currently projected.

Leon Douglass went #4 in 1976.
