It’s true. Auburn has been one of those teams that can beat us even when they can beat no one else. Not sure why. One of those things. Don’t think it’s not in the back of most older Ole Miss fans’ minds this week. I remember the year they fired Bowden and hired Tuberville. We played shitty that day. I should know as I was there. 19-9. Just couldn’t do anything. And we had a talented young team in 1998. Lots of bad luck that year too. By the eggbowl Romero Miller broke his collarbone so we had no QB for that game, no one knows what will happen this weekend.

We lost to Auburn 17-0 in 1998….Auburn had a rising star at quarterback named Ben Leard…he played Ole Miss so he thought he was good…for one week anyway…after that they didn’t play Ole Miss so he realized he actually sucked.

Who was the Auburn coach in 2008? Was it still Tuberville?

As I'm getting older, it's hard to keep up with all those Auburn coaches that went undefeated. I'm guessing that feeling is kinda alien to an Ole Miss fan.

Well that’s even worse. Wondering what year it was that put 19-9 in my head. I hate getting old. Proves I didn’t look it up.

He was actually a pretty good QB once Jimbo was gone.

What I do remember is that was the 2nd game right after we played Memphis. The hottest game I’ve ever sat through. Stadium ran out of bottled water.

You talking about Percy Miller’s son?

Bruh, of course he got hurt, he was like 8 years old in 1998. Tubs should’ve been under criminal investigation for allowing him to play, wtf were y’all thinking

Romero vs Romeo. Sigh. Two different spellings and words.

Auburn fears… well… a lot, as they should, but mostly Alabama

Auburn is the only team that doesn't "fear" Bama. One only has to look to Auburn having the most wins of any other SEC program against Bama in the Saban era.

I’m not sure Deion would leave Jackson St for Auburn, if we’re being honest.

They have great support. But right now they judge all of their coaches by Saban and Bama. Beating a Saban coached team shouldn’t be the measuring stick. For any program. Based on all of this they should hire Freeze. He can pull it off with less talent. But you better be prepared to lose games you shouldn’t. We beat Bama then a few weeks later lose to Memphis. And Freeze could do a lot of inexplicable things on the goal line.

I had never even heard of Auburn until the 1990s.

Go and look at how few times Ole Miss has played Alabama too. It will surprise you.
