I personally like Tom Petty and got a chance to catch his gig at Red Rock. I like Lynyrd Skynyrd, and they are from Florida too. I still like Southern Rock so throw in the Allman Brothers from Macon. Boys, some of y'all desperately need a better social life.

Bingo!

"some of y'all desperately need a better social life"

If your passion for football is such that you can't appreciate music from other places, save yourself some hate and discontent and don't come to Austin.

Most of what I appreciate about SEC Country is the music that comes from it. I don't know if I'll ever make it to Macon or Muscle Shoals or Tupelo, but if I'm close, I'll stop by; for me, those are my trips to Mecca.

The first concert I saw was Led Zeppelin, 1969 in Austin. I saw more concerts growing up than I can remember, but many of them you don't ever forget.

I saw Tom Petty in Austin in '79, Tulsa in '80, and in Austin in 2017, a few months before he passed away. Each of those shows was better than the next, and I have always said Tom Petty was one of the best live performers ever.

Was his favorite city Gainesville? Houston? St. Louis? Austin! Wherever he played, he brought the house down. I'm sure Tom enjoyed every place he played.

He got screwed over by the recording industry. and he fought back. Every musician who made a nickel recording appreciates Tom Petty, even if you don't.

Well, I won't back down
No I won't back down
You could stand me up at the gates of Hell
But I won't back down

No I'll stand my ground
Won't be turned around
And I'll keep this world from draggin' me down
Gonna stand my ground
And I won't back down

He did drugs? No!!! Tell me it isn't so.

Reminds me of the hypocrites who criticized girls for not wearing bras, but sure had a tractor-beam stare when they walked by.

My social life is doing just fine, chief. It is perfectly acceptable to like southern rock and dislike this song
