Ole Miss can compete in NIL- Wealthy Alumni

I'm confused with all the "SEC schools and Ole Miss can't compete financially".
Do you not think Ole Miss has wealthy alumni?
Auburn- Jimmy Rane's networth is 950 Million.
Ole Miss has the Duff Brothers- Networth $4 billion dollars. Jim Barksdale is worth $750 million.
Leslie Lampton is worth $2.4 billion dollars.
All who donate to Ole Miss. Not to mention the likes of Morgan Freeman, the Mannings, etc.
This whole perception Ole Miss has no money is a very flawed statement.

It's funny, all the NIL talk and I take a look at the recruiting rankings and...........they look just about exactly the same as they did from 2018-2020.

So, what's the problem?

I think you can look at the transfer portal class and see that Ole Miss is doing alright in NIL.
Our average star rating on our HS recruits are also up in this class, we just have a low number of commits (intentionally) so our ranking doesn't necessarily reflect it.

It doesn’t matter if they aren’t opening their checkbooks for the football program. Harvard probably has the wealthiest alumni base but they could care less about college football.

Don't leave out David Nutt worth $880 Million.
Plenty of money, and they give it pretty freely.
Problem is a lot of hands are out for that money. Unlike some schools like LSU where they'd let the actually college crumble to fund football, a lot of that money goes to the education side.
With NIL now schools have to pick, does the money go to the arms race of facilities or NIL.

Oh god I haven’t had my coffee before reading about ole miss fans lecturing us on how rich they are
ole miss has successful alumni like every university, but no one besides ole miss thinks of the school as wealthy. You’re no more wealthier than any sec school at least.
Ole miss is a good school, but I promise no one cares that’s you’re an upper middle class Nashville resident

Then why are they historically a lower tier program?

Who is saying we can’t compete financially? I think it’s obvious that we can just looking at the salaries we pay and recruiting, specifically transfer portal. I’d argue based on the size of our school and alumni base we compete as well as anyone in the country, outside of Clemson

The problem is Ole Miss alumni haven’t really supported the school. An old historic university such as Ole Miss, with all its famous and rich alumni should not be ranked 2nd or 3rd from the last in school endowments in the SEC. Ole Miss students and alumni won’t even go to a home game when they have a ranked undefeated team. Aggies, LSU, and other SEC teams can mostly fill a stadium no matter who they play or their rankings. When Ole Miss plays A&M in three weeks, the stadium will be full, regardless of the team records. So say you’re a five star recruit, it’s pretty obvious, what are your best options for a NIL marketing deal? A fan base that puts 100k people in the stadium every home game, or a fan base the head coach has to beg to come to the games? So while they maybe could compete as far as NIL, their history, shows they won’t. Just an observation not a criticism.

I'd love to have that kind of money, but thats not REAL money. look at texas schools as an example of REAL money.

I know they do personally. A good friend of mine flys on his gulf stream to every single game and contributes greatly to the university.

Every school has wealthy alumni. I’ve found through work that one of the richest Louisianaianas is a Centenary alum and Centenary donor.
In the grand scheme of things, Ole Miss doesn’t have a lot of loot. You know who does? Michigan, Texas, Texas A&M, Notre Dame, Washington, Virginia, and so on …

A major key in the "wealthy alumni" world isn't just the top dogs in the "frick you" tax brackets...
They might be fervent donors, but that well can dry up real fast if they feel their donation isn't netting the program any ROI.
It's all about the everyman alumni and what they're able to give on a year-in and year-out basis. So you need a combo of a LARGE alumni base and sidewalk base, mixed with the right ratio of wealthy to upper middle class spread amongst those donor groups.

Ole Miss Land sharks, rebel, bears are getting nervous about another coach heading to AU. Ole Miss isn’t a destination job, always a stepping stone. Shitty tiny stadium with pretentious pricks hanging out at the grove.

We have some more wealthy alumni. It’s not just Rane…
