They look promising. But last year's freshman looked even more promising. And then the best 3 transferred. Because we have no one on staff that can develop our hitters.

Do they? We just brought in the #1 recruit in the nation in addition to a slew of instant impact transfers

SI writer Katie Windham posted this in the SI forum today - TIFWIW
(Ally = Shipman)
quote:

I'll have a story coming soon, but this team seems super locked in and focused. Montana and Ally never came out and said it, but they definitely implied that the attitude on this team is much better than lasts, and they're all on the same page despite ranging in ages from 17 to 23.

They love the new pitching coach, Lance McMahon, and Murph likes what he's done with all four pitchers. He thinks the Michigan transfer Lauren Esman could make a big impact for the Tide.

The goal for Montana and Ally (and the whole team obviously) but especially since it's their last year is clear, and they're not being shy about it. It's OKC or bust. Montana went her freshman year in 2019, no WCWS in 2020 because of COVID, went back in 2021 and had her perfect game against UCLA and then obviously last year they didn't even advance to Super Regionals for the first time ever.
