Regarding scheduling

Rule #1, if it aint broke don't fix it

Rule #2, all P5 conferences are not equal
a) ACC and SEC operate one way
b) B1G, B12, and PAC operate another way

Regionalism is what makes college football special in the South

Respect the ACC and SEC East have long histories
Respect the West can reconnect theirs or schedule in similar fashion
Respect not everybody can go 10-2 and need to go 6 wins to keep their fans

I'd support a mandate that one of them has to be a P5 team, but that's it.

I’m in favor of 1 FCS, 1 G5 and 1 P5. Kind of ramp up the competition for 3 weeks until conference play starts.

That is noob thinking

Biggest week in the SEC is rivalry week

Egg Bowl
Iron Bowl
Governors Cup
Clean Old Fashioned Hate
Sunshine Showdown
Palmetto Bowl

Historically the week before is cupcake week in the SEC so the schools can prepare for their rivalry games. This should not change to make the SEC most competitive with their out of conference rivals.

As example, if TAMU played Utx, they would play their "rent a win" game the week before, just don't go with App State (or other Sun belt / former SoCon schools).

We're playing at last 2 P5 OOC annually now. Gat Tech is a P5 team in name only.

Over the last 20 years:

UT 137 -113
GT 136 - 118

Looks like the difference is they’ve played for more conference championships and bowls than UT.

Agreed. If not, it should be 10 (an even number). Its screwed up to have half the teams play an extra conference road game.

There's no goddamn excuse for scheduling group of five or division II teams.

Have you been watching college football? There’s been like 20 one score games between G5 and P5 schools

This sport is too goddamn big to have early, mid and late season scrimmage games.

And too damned expensive to be watching little schools funding their whole athletic programs by getting the shite kicked out of them in one game with a strong program.
