I would venture to offer that our back 7 is blanketing opposing teams receivers, thus allowing us to blitz less but still forcing the QB to throw away the ball or make errant throws which leads to picks.

However we do it, I just want to score more points than the opposition every Saturday..

Correct. Safeties with 4 picks already (missed a few others). We are doing more zone on the backend. The pressure with 4 (sometimes 5 against 11 personnel) has QBs making business decisions.

If you don't make Kirby blitz he won't. If you can't get open he doesn't need to.

This - they're winning right now running base defenses and playing sound gap control football. That's kinda scarier tbh... not really having to open the playbook and take chances yet.

It means they have only beat shitty arse offenses so far. Did you not watch the SC game? And Oregon is a soft finesse team.

I can't wait to see how much time Hooker has in the pocket when Cooper Mayes has to line up against Jalen Carter. Of course they'll have to double Carter cause lil Coop absolutely will not be able to handle him solo, and when the double happens, one or our LB's gets pressure inside 3 seconds. Fun times.

That has been the biggest difference in our defense this season.
Without Jordan Davis, Jalen has been getting the bulk of the double teams.

Fortunately, we still have studs like Mykel Williams and Nolan Smith to win their one on ones.

And nothing blows up a double team like stunts and hard slants.

The defense is definitely different. But we have been equally effective getting penetration.

I honestly don't see a huge difference in the pass rush.

UGA is a lot better than the 3 teams they have played and are still loaded with great players on defense. However, the pass rush isn’t close to last year’s at this point. No matter how you want to shake it. It hasn’t mattered but anyone with a brain can tell it’s a different pass rushing team through 3 games.

At this point last year UGA had 12 Sacks and 5 QB hurries. In 2022, they have 1 sack and 9 QB Hurries. How is this the same pass rushing team exactly?? I’d love to know

Btw, ALL 9 hurries coming against South Carolina. South Carolina gave up 3 sacks and 6 hurries against Georgia state and Arkansas had 6 sacks and 6 hurries. They have arguably the worst offensive line in the SEC. You literally can’t make up some of the UGA’s fans delusion sometimes.

Our best pass rusher last year was kicked off the team immediately following the cocktail party last year. He probably would have been the 6th first rounder if not for legal issues. Our current defensive scheme is the same scheme we played with from in Nov, Dec, Jan.
