Last year everyone was ready to crown Florida champs in the east because they played a close game with Bama.

Can you spell Gasparilla Bowl?

This. Texas was UP big for this game. And give them credit, they played great and honestly should have won.

But that is one week. How would they do if they had to play Arkansas next? Then MSU? Then Auburn? Etc.

Very true, and something I've tried to tell my friends in Austin.

It's not a bad thing to take away positives from last Saturday's game, a game in which Texas was in position to win, after every single pundit and talking head and fan (Texas fans included) expected a thorough beatdown.

But there are no moral victories.

Just because Auburn was able to keep Alabama tight in a clunker of a game in 2021 doesn't mean that Auburn fans are at all pleased with the overall product the 2021 team produced.

Gotta move forward. If Texas can build on this and give similar performances consistently, maybe then the narrative of them being destroyed in the SEC can finally die. Until then, there's plenty of respect still to be earned
