I can't tell yet if last year was the outlier for Drink's recruiting, or if this year is. His recruiting is mainly what had me worried about him last year. I'm still undecided on him overall as a coach. He took over a built App. State, so I don't particularly use his one year there as good evidence.
He is still a very good recruiter. A big reason this year's class ranking is lower is due to the fact that it's just going to be a smaller class. As far as on-field results go, this is the year we need to see a step forward. He raised a LOT of eyebrows around here with his play-calling and the fact that he played a QB with a bad leg injury that made him completely immobile and incapable of going through his throwing motion correctly. Additionally, he is 0-2 on DC hires.
This year, he has the horses at the skill positions, the defense appears to be MUCH improved, and our QB is healthy. If Drink is the coach we hope he is, this team could surprise a lot of people. If not, it will be a 5ish win team.

That's a pretty accurate assessment.

I don't think it's JUST a small class. Last year, you only had 18 commits. But half of them were 4* and a 5* got thrown in the mix. Arkansas hasn't had a 5* in like a decade when we signed Alex Collins. How many are you expected to sign for '23?
