so you're mostly unable to talk x's and o's but you're going to throw insults via a temper tantrum

if a team is playing to take away the deep ball, they would be in cover 3 or a four across bracket matchup zone with four DB's able to run with the deep ball

but you don't want to talk about that now

No shite Sherlock.

Do you understand the importance of the safety positions and the difference between cover 1 and cover 2?

If you did, you’d understand the post.

I'm really sure that I understand that there are zone/man variations and that cover 2 for instance can be zone underneath and over the top, or bump and run man underneath with zone safeties over the top

but you don't want to talk about that now

most teams call straight man (5-6 yards off, a yard inside the WR) cover 1, which WOULD actually be a time when the safeties would be up in straight man on slots and tight ends, or offset backs

I actually know Canaan Sandy, and he's a great guy

No they wouldn’t, when they’re attempting to take away the run as well. Cincinnati played under cover 2 damn near the entire game. 2 safeties over the top. LB matches up with TE or RB.

Bracket matchup zone? WTF are we playing basketball now?

Cover 3 is straight zone. Cincy tried to play more man yesterday to have more freedom in the box. Not once did they play cover 3, that I recall.

I’ll talk scheme all day long…but I’m not going to talk to a jackass that’s constantly attacking posters for a different view than yours.

I’ll just dissect every one of your posts if you’re going to drag this on…

Cover 3, known to normal fans as prevent. Yet, you’re saying use it to take away the deep ball. Yet Cincy ran with a 3-3 alignment up front all day…so that leaves 2 corners to cover 2-4 WRs in our sets with 3 safeties…which never happened by the way…but let’s just roll with what you said…Makes as much sense as a football bat.

I’ll drop knowledge

Explain to me zone safeties…This is interesting to me. As someone who played football from the age of 8 until I was 22, zone safety coverage is absolutely something I want to be educated on. I’m always interested in gaining knowledge. Zone safeties huh…interesting.

Now this is real damn interesting here…So you’re saying running under cover 1 WITH SAFETIES(plural) in man? So are we running under or over coverage in your scenario? So…let’s just ignore the 1 in over Cover 1 or is this some more new terminology?

In your scenario, are we running a 4-4, 4-3, or 3-4?
