I’m not quite sure if we’re at the 85 limit now or not. If not, I’m wondering if UCLA might have a few guys worth making a run at. I haven’t seen any UCLA guys in the portal yet.

We're reportedly around 81.

Keon Sabb-Michigan Safety in the transfer portal. His brothers Xavier and Amari visited recently.

Couple of posters on BOL said they expect him to go to Bama. FWIW

I would keep an eye on Rod Moore as well. Another Michigan DB. Not sure if before or after Spring, but I think there's a good possibility he enters at some point.

Per T Watts:
Keon Sabb - Michigan Wolverines - Safety (on3.com) hit the portal this morning, and after a few calls, I am told Alabama is on his shortlist by a source familiar with his recruitment. Didn't have a complete list but felt UA was on it for sure and could be his top choice. Also spoke to our own Pete Nakos, who has a source near his recruitment, who said Alabama is a team to watch as well. Just happened a few hours ago, everything is moving fast, but we are digging for more info. FYI for Friday a.m.

When Sabb was a recruit it seems like it came down to Clemson and Michigan and even though Bama offered, I don't think he ever took an official visit?
Good to see he might have finally come to his senses
I also wonder if Adegoke deciding to stay with the Texans contributed to Sabb hitting the portal.

We recently offered his 2 little brothers. They were on campus recently.

Rodney Orr is alluding that there is another starting safety from another program that *might enter the portal soon with interest in Bama. Doesn’t expect us to take both though

My question is do we need safeties more than cornerbacks? We lost both starting corners and Amos transferred. I realize we lost Downs. I really don't know the answer. What do we need more from the guys that really know the current roster? I know we have 3 5 star corners in this class.

The simple answer is, if it is the right guy, we definitely need 1 more safety.
You would have to be crazy not to have corner as a priority, but I don't think bringing in a new safety would prevent that. We still have possibly 4 open spots before spring transfers so the staff will resolve the corner issue.
The longer he is uncommitted the more I feel Taccaro Davis might be one of our guys but who knows.

Just remember that Devonta Smith is returning and should be healthy finally in 2024. CNS and staff were very high on him. We just haven't gotten to see him yet as he'd been injured. Was beginning to get healthy in bowl practice. I basically consider Malachi Moore and Smith as two starters to pencil in at DB.
Incidentally, did anyone else hear the Ryan Fowler interview with George Teague yesterday? Teague said that he and Dave Campo (former coach of the Dallas Cowchips) sat down and watched some of the Bama incoming players highlights. Not unexpectedly, they were very impressed with Ryan Williams. However, the one that jumped off the screen for Campo was Zabien Brown. Teague said that he and Campo thought Brown was incredible. Said that Campo said he could play for the Jaguars (Jacksonville) right now. He's really getting a lot of buzz since his senior video and All-Star game performance.

Gotta have another safety. It seems like everyone likes DeVonta Smith, which is great, but he's never done anything on the field in a game and has been injured frequently. I hope he has a great year, but you aren't holding off on SEC level starters because of a guy like that.
It does seem like the incoming DB freshmen are exactly what are needed in that they are both talented and universally praised for being extremely polished and ready to play.

And I keep forgetting about Domani Jackson for some reason.

Saw Courtney Morgan post on IG that we made Christian Garrett’s - top 100 DL/DT from Georgia - top 7. Wasn’t familiar with the name but looked up his highlights and this kid looks like a player. Big, pretty quick and plays with some violence. Would be a nice pick up

Former 4 star. Nice addition.
