Williams recruitment almost reminds me of Winston's recruitment. Family all big UA fans and he really likes the program but wants to go elsewhere.

Didn't his dad play for AU? Wonder how much he is in his ear about playing for his Dad's school. I will honestly be shocked if he signed with us.

I'd like to know the stats of the "success" rate of 5 stars compared to 4 stars. I'd be willing to say more 4 stars have outplayed the 5 stars.

His dad isn't pressuring him to any school.

His dad also was in Tubberville's doghouse for 2 years before getting processed off the team.

Been following recruiting since 2007, and honestly RW's recruitment isn't even that bad

This may be accurate. Look at the number of 5* that UA has signed in the past that didn't work out. Now image we had paid those kids to come to our school... what a waste of money that would have been. You can't afford to bust an evaluation / development of a 5* these days

No worries man. I’ve just seen it before in the past.

They put their thumb through two fingers to represent the line in a capital A. It might have originated in Atlanta honestly.

Ryan Williams definitely loves Bama. Despite what barners say he’s been planning to come here for some time and it’s hard to suddenly turn that off simply because a HC retired.

I feel good about Williams in this class but I won’t be shocked at all if he goes somewhere else.

Statistically 5*s have a better success rate, but people remember the 5 star who didn’t pan out more than the 4 stars. And there was that 3 star that one time who everyone remembers and think that it disproves recruiting ratings.

But the point about not missing out on a 5 star evaluation is correct imo. The amount of NIL a 5 star takes up, they better not bust.

Ps. Saw this for the first time yesterday. It’s funny and accurate.
Before and during the early Saban era, all our
Rivals were pushing the right button. Then it became the left button. Now shifting back to the right button.

Before NIL at least 25% of the players that signed with Bama never played a meaningful down. Nick caught hell for processing them as best he could. Now with the portal they process themselves.

Perhaps AI will be helpful for the coaches to measure the heart and desire of these players before you sign them.

You would be wrong. From 2017-2021 63% of 5-Stars were drafted in the NFL. In the same time period only 23% of 4-Stars were drafted. 6% of 3-Stars were drafted.

Now there are plenty of examples of lower-rated guys beating out higher-rated players. But as a whole, the higher a player is rated out of high school, the higher likelihood the player pans out and makes it to the NFL.

Who? I knew this would happen. We need to quit acting like this is anything other than professional sports. Let the kids be employees and enter into contracts with the school. We wouldn’t have problems with people moving every year.

Also, know that I love you downvote me all the time. You have no argument outside of it negatively affecting your favorite team.

Same thing you’re talking about, paying players.

That’s very interesting. I wonder what the numbers look like. As in, how many 5 stars, 4 stars and such there are each year.

Just a couple of years ago 5-stars that Alabama signed we’re making it to the NFL at a rate of 48%. This was highest in the nation.
This was reported on all the sports sites like 247.

The fix is simple to me. The NFL can create a type of G-League like the NBA and let them get drafted out of high school. Sign contracts and get developed with nfl money.

Let the kids that value education get recruited and sign with the universities. No NIL, but you can have a stipend program for the athletes to have an income. How much would have to be determined.

And if the student athletes develop and are good enough to get drafted that’s fine to, but you have to agree to stay four years and earn your degree. Only way to transfer if there’s a legitimate reason.

Pandora’s box’s is open now and there’s probably no way to close it the way it’s set up. But maybe you can just cut the head off the snake as we know it now. Instill some value back in education in college athletics. And instill some pride back in earning a degree and pride playing for your university.

First there has been no value in education for athletes as long they have a sliding scale to get into a college. Being called a student athlete in football for the most part has little value academically.

The reason players can noy jump straight to the NFL is a concern physically/medical. Maybe create an under 21 leagues but I doubt it would make it and fail like just about every other league that has tried.

Until coaches stop getting multimillion dollar contracts and TV deals worth over a billion stops happening NIL is here to stay.

Looks like the Auburn confidence in landing Ryan Williams just took a huge hit.
