When you order tea in Maryland you have to specify that it is to be sweetened BEFORE it is iced. Maryland, therefore, is decidedly NOT southern. West-by-God Virginia is also south of the Mason-Dixon line, but illegally seceded from Virginia in order to remain a part of the Union. Your argument is invalid.
